IVF that your doc doesn’t know about?

    Sexual assault you fear reporting?

    Used the wrong dildo?

    You make straight porn?

Medical algorithms are meant to take in as many possibilities as they can get that have a real impact on overall health. Pregnancy is a huge one.

    How is not relevant.

Edit: I would like to take the opportunity here to point out how this meme has an interesting highlight in the deficiency of women’s medical care. It is acknowledged that doctors NEED this information. But it is NOT acknowledged that this is a deeply personal question that many women and most men wouldn’t understand why it needs to be answered. It’s a systemic failure of the women’s doctor patient relationship that was progressing, but as we have seen recently is regressing due to much bigger legal policies.

There are lots of ways for straight women to be sexually active that have zero chance of becoming pregnant too.

Technically they train us to ask specifically are you sexually active with men, women or both? I suppose it would be more fair to include intersex people, but that would just lead to us definitely ordering a pregnancy test…

“Lesbian trapped in a man’s body” is literally a 1980s boomer stand up joke. And it wasn’t really funny then either.

Huh? Sorry if it comes across that way, not what I meant at all. Wasn’t even meant as a joke. I’m talking about trans women before bottom surgery.

Every time my wife has some medical thing where the symptoms or treatments could be effected by pregnancy. Although usually they just skip the sexually active question and go straight to “is there any possibility you could be pregnant?”

I’ve been present for a number of these during emergency rooms visits, and a few other situations where I had to drive her due to the use of anesthesia.
