As we would say here in Florida, Acapulco got its ass kicked. A direct hit by a Cat 5 is no joke.
I’ve been in minor hurricanes and they were pretty freaky. I absolutely can’t even imagine what getting hit by a cat 5 must be like.
The really scary bit is 24 hours before landfall it was a tropical storm.
In 12 hours it went from tropical storm to a cat 4, going from 105kph to 233kph, then climbing up to 270kph winds before landfall.
