Really great short story though, recommend that if haven’t already read it.
Posting here for convenience. It’s a super short read. https://wjccschools.org/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2016/01/I-Have-No-Mouth-But-I-Must-Scream-by-Harlan-Ellison.pdf
Harlan Ellison’s other work is also well worth the read, like Born in Blood. It’s very expensive to buy and there’s no Ebook so I recommend getting it from the library.
Harlan Ellison also helped turn his story into a pretty cool game.

Bought the game years ago before reading the story.
I’d recommend the other way around ad the game makes some chilling comments that are down right dark in with context
If I remember right, that game is pretty hard. I think you can make choices that will later turn out to stop you from completing it, but you won’t know until a few more hours in
Not all that uncommon for the genre and the time. Fitting too, given the story, wouldn’t you say?
Oh yes absolutely, it’s not a criticism at all. More just me kicking some dusty neurons and coming up with something resembling a memory 😅
There is also an audiobook read by Harlan: https://youtu.be/dgo-As552hY

I’m a Silent Stubber, when I hurt myself I just automatically pause in place and hold my breath for a second until the worst is past. I wonder what makes people react differently to a legit stub. (I didn’t grow up in any kind of traumatic situation where I had to be quiet or anything. I was a pretty loud kid, and am still a loud adult.) 🤷♂️
Movie title reminds me of that “Star Trek: Lower Decks” episode
