Hey all,
This is my first attempt at creating a low poly model print in blender. I was trying to recreate a weiro (Cockatiel) with a compartment in its back. I forgot the wings but happy with the how it came out.
I’m planning another print from the opposite corners of my print bed to give me more room.
The issues I’ll try fixing next time are:
- The feet are not flat on the floor and it tips over easily.
- I had random threads of plastic coming from the model. I cut them off but I have no idea what went wrong.
- the crest was kinda sharp.
- It looks like I need to do some calibration, the bottom where the supports were looks a bit wonky.
- It is way smaller than I imagined (Though the proportions seem right so hopefully I can just scale it).
- The gap in the mouth is too small (hoping to fit a rose in its mouth)

let me know if you have any tips or can spot some obvious setting I missed, I’ve only had my printer for a few weeks.
Nice, I’m surprised the spike came out so well, usually when I print something like that I have to print a small cylinder next to it or something to give it time to cool. If it tips over easily you can try making the feet further apart, or using a modifier to make the infill more solid on the bottom ~third of the print to lower it’s center of mass
It’s currently really cold here so that might help,
The lower center of gravity is a brilliant idea.
