I recently bought a Yamaha FZ25, used. It is generally in great nick, having only run 13k kms in 5 years. The tyres were shot from sitting too long, so I got some new ones.

It’s been great, but I have noticed significant vibration from the rear all the way to the brake pedal, only when I have a pillion on board. The new tyres are pretty knobby, but I don’t feel any vibration riding solo. Could this be a wheel bearing issue?

If you don’t know what it is, then you should start investigating.

I had a CBR400 some years ago, and felt no vibration riding, but when I gave a lift to someone weighing 80kg one time, the rear bearings collapsed… so it’s certainly something you should look at with a new purchase.

AFAIK wheel bearings are generally pretty cheap and not too difficult to replace.
