The only way Afghanistan is going to see Democracy IMHO is about the same way as Nazi Germany n imperial Japan … The world has to get involved in it’s rebuilding

Same for Russia, if there is some kind of end of war … Russia will always go back to it’s corrupt/ evil ways… Without intervention there’s no hope…

Nah. The Germans and the Japanese have a sense of State, of common history someone could build upon. Japan went to the Middle Ages to the industrial era in little more than 100 years once it made contact with Europeans. Germany was always a great European power.

The Afghani have nothing of the sort. Their politics is nothing more than a bunch of warring tribes trying to outdo each other in backwardness.

And Russia is a nuclear power. Nobody is going to touch them with a ten-foot pole, certainly not in the way Germany and Japan were rebuilt post-WWII.

Germany could pretty accurately be described as “Warring Tribes” until Bismark unified Germany in 1870. Doesn’t take that long for these things to change.

You got to be kidding me. Do you even have an idea of Germany’s pre-modern and modem history?

Germany’s “warring states” (mind you: states, not tribes) produced Charlemagne and a streak of European emperors, as well as a hundreds of artists, scientists, and philosophers including Goethe, Hegel, and Kant. It was one of the first countries to be reached by the Enlightenment.

Italy could also be described as “warring states” during the Renaissance.

What has Afghanistan produced when women aren’t even allowed to complete secondary education?

And how do you plan on educating the Afghani while the Taliban rule?

Japan and Germany were invaded, their leaders brought to justice, their government dismantled and rebuilt. Nobody has an appetite for that in Afghanistan.

The Afghani had a chance. They had a democratic government and elections during the American occupation, but they threw it away and allowed the Taliban to grab power without lifting a finger to oppose them.

There’s not much else we can do from the West apart from taking in the refugees who will make an effort to integrate in our society.

LMAO 🤣 US occupation wasn’t about rebuilding them; if that’s what You believe

Anyways, judging them or any other war torn nation is equivalent of judging homeless people and people who are mentally ill ; " it’s their fault, was their choice"
It’s pathetic to say the least

Today’s US isn’t the same US that existed during WWll btw… The country has changed drastically

            Kek

No matter what the US occupation was about. It kicked out the Taliban. They had a democratic government and elections. Not perfect, by a long shot, but way better than what they ended up with.

Afghanistan isn’t the only country that has suffered through war. Japan and the whole of Europe were pretty war torn after WWI and WWII. South Korea was totally fucked up after the Korean war. Vietnam went from war to war between the 60s and the 80s (vs. France, the US, China).

And yet none of these countries are as fucked up and stuck in the middle ages as Afghanistan. Why?

I’m not judging, but it is undeniable that they welcomed the Taliban with open arms instead of resisting, as e.g. the Ukrainians are doing (and against a much stronger, organized opponent).

Sorry, but if an alcoholic decides to keep drinking instead of seeking help, yes, it is their fault and their choice.

Japan didn’t have anything pre-WW1, it’s literally why in WW2 they had to invade China, there weren’t enough resources in Japan to establish an industrial base for their empire.

And Germany wasn’t even unified until what, the 1870’s? Germany is technically a younger country than the U.S, same with Italy, it’s pure revisionism to say that European countries were ever united because they weren’t until WW1 when Ultra-Nationalism became the name of the game in geopolitics.

I think you people are just legitimately uninformed about world history. The Afghans have the same thing going on for them, but Russia screwed it all up and created their divisions when they invaded
