Is there a slicer that let’s you configure sections of the model to print at a different layer height?
I often have some larger models I’m printing, and 0.3mm layers are just fine for this to speed things up, but some of the overhangs print very poorly with thick layers and require thinner layers to print well.
Pretty sure most slicers these days have the functionality. I’d recommend Prusaslicer for doing this.
Huh, i just havet found the setting then…
Prusa puts it in a different place than others. It’s more in the preview window. Cura puts it with the rest of the settings, and is easier to find.
As others have said most of them do but in different ways.
What’s your particular slicer preference?
I prefer orca slicer
What you’re looking for is adaptive layer height.
Here’s a video somebody posted that shows where you can find it
Adaptive Layer Height - Orca Slicer
Basically this adjusts the layer height to be smaller when smaller details are needed.
For example when doing a dome on a cylinder the main cylinder body will have larger layer heights but when it needs to start curving inward it will use smaller layer heights so the “steps” aren’t as pronounced.
Here is an alternative Piped link(s):
