The franchise is fucked, Andromeda didn’t interest many people anymore after ME3 was so shit, but it was dead to me after they ruined the story with a giant space skeleton bossfight at the end of ME2.

More like ping the internet to see where interest and hyper levels are at for free marketing and if they should continue to employ people.

I’m trusting Owlcat with my hopes for a good new Mass Effect-like game. They’re taking inspiration from the series for their The Expanse game, and they have a long history of delivering great stories.

This. Owlcat is proven now at making pretty dang good games. Bioware could potentially be able to again but I haven’t seen any reason to believe they have learned from the mistakes of their last three games so…yeah.

That’s the expectation. It’d be surprised if it makes it and then yet again if it’s good. I’ve already accepted that the series is done, so I guess I can only be positively surprised, which is nice.

Mass Effect is a trilogy. I really enjoyed it and glad Bioware just let be great on its own without needing to reboot it for easy money /s

Nah, media companies have been doing this for years now, and now the gaming industry has figured out the “cancel something and claim the potential profits as a tax writeoff”.

Stop beating that dead horse. It’s been dead since part 3 ended with a wet fart.

Move on and make the next original idea and stop tying yourself down to pleasing fans and shareholders. You end up with uninspired mediocrity.

Very little chance of this being good, BioWare fucking blows. They should give this franchise to a new developer that’s competent and less focused on writing HR compliant dialogue.

Andromeda was a good game after they fixed all the bugs. All they have to do is launch it in a playable state, which is nearly impossible for modern devs

Nothing could have followed up and be better than or even match the Mass Effect trilogy. Andromeda attempts to be its own thing and I respect the evolution of a franchise over time. I’m not saying Andromeda was perfect, but only that it’s good enough. It’s a good way to waste time even if it isn’t a 100% good waste of time.

The only good is Mass Effect 1, the second one was consolized safe cookie-cutter third person gameplay with the stupidest game finale of all time. Haven’t touched the third after that shit.

I agree! I think I got a free copy somewhere, years after release, and really enjoyed it. Sure, I wish the characters had been a lil’ more fleshed out, but I had fun with it. I have to assume that the bulk of the negative reaction to it had to do with bugs and/or missing content on launch, that had been fixed by the time I got around to it.

I often have this experience, since the only game I recall buying on or before launch in the last decade is BG3.

I played it, and what sticks in my mind isn’t bugs, but poor writing and uninteresting gameplay. I think it’s middling at best and a terrible entry in the series.

I thought the gameplay was improved. I mean the actually mechanics. Clearing whatever the underground chambers were was a slog. The majority of the enemies were rather uninteresting too.

The story was pretty weak but it had some interesting side stuff. It could have been far better especially with the arks.

Huh…I guess I agree with middling. I had more fun replaying the trilogy.

I thought the story was great. It started slow but really picked up in the second half. And the gameplay really reinforced the idea of exploring a new galaxy by having the Mako driving around interestingly designed planets, instead of the boring procedureally generated ones in ME1. The only thing weird about the gameplay was having a jump button but I got used to it pretty quick.

Ffs bioware, your last two “story-heavy” games were both IP “extensions” and they were both pretty meh. Cook up something new for once, see where that goes. Because I guarantee that yet another friggin attempt at mass effect will not go well. That story was cool, it ended and it is now done. Leave a good thing be and think of something new for crying out loud.

So 2030 at best for a new game

Bioware dodged making a milky way game after ME3 and didn’t make anything compelling for andromeda. 2030+, 18+ years after ME3 release, got to keep any expectations super low especially after Veilguard happened where that at least had the David Gaider lore bible to finish off the plot threads of the first 3 games. Bioware characters and multigame plots from scratch modern Bioware, that is not an exciting prospect

Are you telling me that after buying that random $400 coat glimpsed in the last 4 years of N7 Day teases, there’s still nothing to show for it?!

Because that would be shady for them to be selling $400 coats that are “featured” in ME5 if this game doesn’t actually happen, and we know that game companies, Post-ME3 BioWare especially, wouldn’t lie to us!

Well, the pre-production is real. Remains to be seen whether production and post-production will be real as well.
