Don’t forget that the “riot” wasn’t just a spur of the moment thing; it was orchestrated and planned with the “tours” the day before, the suspiciously small Capitol Police force on duty that day (compared e.g. to the BLM protests the summer before), the Secret Service attempt to get rid of Pence and subsequent coverup, etc.
