I had the feeling I couldn’t poop for some reason for two days, I also had some sickness from being exposed to too much AC (the doctor said), the doctor gave me medicine against the other stuff which works wonderfully. But my stomach hurt a lot so I ordered a 1 liter bottle of prune juice because I heard it helps against constipation.
Once it arrived I drank the whole bottle at once just to be sure, because I heard it’s a natural mild laxative and my stomach hurt so much.
And it worked very well, after 2 hours I was running to the toilet and getting rid of whatever was stuck in there. It worked very well, my stomach stopped hurting after one more hour, wonderful!
But I didn’t need to drink the whole bottle, I’m stuck on the toilet the whole afternoon now because as soon as I get out, 2 minutes later I need to run back in, so it’s just easier to stay on it.
I think like a cup or two might have been enough.
I would say this also goes for dried prunes, once I ate most of a bag and got a similar experience, it just takes a bit longer before you run to the toilet.
A warriors drink
Remember to drink a ton of water to replace everything you’re losing to the throne.
Last thing you want is to feel extra shitty due to dehydration when you’re already recovering
Maybe even supplement with pedialyte if it’s been excessive.
I did the exact same thing, long ago. I saw it only had like 2g fiber per 4oz serving, so I drank a quart. Spent 8 hours on the toilet, my roommate was bringing me Gatorade and laughing at my tears.
You know those funny reviews of sugar free gummy bears that like, ruined people’s day/lives/grounded planes after a bag was shared among passengers and then shat their literal souls out until they begged for mercy that did not come? ( https://www.amazon.com/review/RZFIYJTPVUZ94 )
Yeah, that’s because of sorbitol, the artificial sugar/laxative that is naturally occurring in high doses in prunes.
I once had the great idea of drinking a litre of beetroot juice, which I had read is amazing for sports recovery because of something something helping blood carrying more oxygen or something like that.
Instant diarrhea, and on top of it, beetroot tinted it looked just like blood, so up until I realised what was going on and the fact that it actually wasn’t blood, that was a scary experience.
I don’t know whether beetroot is known to cause diarrhea or it was just my body noping the juice out of it, but I have steered clear of beetroot juice ever since!
That’s a wild story! Sometimes it’s not drugs; just poop.
So glad to see the gummy bears mentioned.
Feel better, OP!
Inulin has an opposite effect. It’s a natural fiber. You can mix a few teaspoons into a glass of water and it will fix your gut flora and converts diarrhea (not caused by a sickness) into some farts and solid poop.
My wife found some lightweight anti dhiaria medicine from back when she was pregnant. I took two of it and what happened is exactly what you describe too.
Whatever the opposite of prune juice is I need.
